Mr Gun Smoke x Little Miss Hank
Show Record
The dam of Trashadeous was out of Little Miss Hank, a cutting mare, the first horse Bill Horn "BH" ever owned. Sired by Mr. Gunsmoke, he got a bald faced filly, with four high white socks, and a belly spot. The American Quarter Horse Association wouldn't register her because she had too much white, and the American Paint Horse Association wouldn't take her because she didn't have enough. " I told some of my friends, 'No one will register her. They all look at her like she's nothin but poor white trash.' So that's what I named her, Miss White Trash. But I knew what I had. There I was with a well bred, well-made filly that no association would accept."
Credited in part for the creation of the NRHA, it was while competing in a reining class at an AQHA show in 1965, Bill Horn tied with two other riders for first place. The judge created a more difficult pattern. It was as a result of that single contest that was the inspiration for the formation of the NRHA.
Ironically Miss White Trash was not able to compete in the 1970 Futurity for 3-year-olds, the only year it was only open to registered Quarter Horses. Although he had been training her for the reining futurity, he decided to train her for cutting and entered the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity that same year. She placed 5th in a field of 220, and was re-inspected by the APHA, and accepted into the registry.
